St Paul’s Bay in Malta – Top Beaches from Xemxija to Qawra

1. Ta’ Fra Ben, Qawra

Ta Fra Ben Neach

Ta` Fra Ben is a rocky beach at Qawra point, exactly located behind Qawra’s coastal watchtower. The beach is especially popular for its crystal clear waters and entertainment thanks to the reggae bar found on-site and also the many barbeques along the coast in the evening.

It’s a popular bay which attracts both locals and tourists alike especially those residing in nearby hotels.

This bay is only a 10-minute walk from Bugibba’s bus terminal and a 5 minutes walk from Malta’s Aquarium which can be easily combined together with snorkeling for an unforgettable day with the kids. Furthermore, the bay is surrounded by restaurants, bars, and pizzerias that cater for breakfasts, snacks, lunch, and dinner.

Despite having lots of facilities including sunbeds and umbrellas, the bay is not exactly family-friendly especially with small children especially since the beach is rocky. The bay is easy to access shallow water but then gets immediately deeper

2. Il-Fekruna Bay, Xemxija

Fekruna Bay

Also known as Turtle Cove, this little secluded beach between St Paul’s Bay and Xemxija is a hidden gem, and though it’s mainly rocky with some pebbles the water is crystal blue.

The bay is near many hotels, restaurants, and rental apartments but fundamentally does not have any beach facilities.

3. Perched Beach, Bugibba

Perched Beach Bugibba

It is a small man-made beach near the center of Bugibba. Despite the presence of sand, to enter the sea you still have to use the ladders as the shoreline is very rocky.

Unfortunately, most of the beach is taken up by private lidos or beach bars/restaurants. Additionally, many people complain about the construction work going on near the beach.

If you don’t have time or a way to access nicer beaches in the north then this might be a good place to spend a few hours sunbathing. If you want to dip into the water, the area is good if you are a confident swimmer and for snorkeling.
